the Cultured Girl’s dress calico ver.

This is the Cultured Girl’s dress in calico for “It rained into her room.” collection. Stitching details for the final version are all hand drawn using fabric pens. It is a simple sleeveless dress with two large patch pockets on the front side. The dots with an angle at the front neckline which continue to curve at the back side represents a raindrop shape. The dots on the pockets are dripping to the lower part of the dress.

blue linen short sleeve top

This is a top I’ve recently made for my friend as a gift. It is a simple short sleeve top made with blue linen. It has a wide neckband and slits at the sides. The back side is longer than the front side. The hem has cotton ribbon trimmings. The label has been stamped with my name and my friend’s birthday. The calico version in the last image is a sample I did before making the final one.

knitted snood

This is a wool snood(a scarf with no ends) I hand knitted for my brother. There is a twist in the loop so it looks nice even when it’s worn randomly. It has a tubular structure and has been knitted with a pattern which gives extra thickness. There is a simple cable pattern going through the whole snood.

the Self-Conscious Girl’s dress calico ver.

This is the calico version of the Self-Conscious Girl’s dress of “It rained into her room.” collection. It is representing a raindrop as a whole. The keyhole opening at the front is tied with ribbons. There is a wide teardrop shape opening at the back as well. The shoulder straps are actually just one ribbon which goes through the metal ring at the back centre. I plan to do the hem section in crocheted lace in the final version. The lace will be shorter at the front and longer towards the back for a fluid silhouette.

the Controlling Girl’s shirt dress calico ver.

This is the Controlling Girl’s shirt dress of “It rained into her room.” collection in calico. The collar, cuffs, and the flap pocket on the lower right have hand drawn dots and lines pattern representing rain. The breast pocket has bubbles in water drawn. The layered pockets on the lower left shows rain dripping into the smaller pocket. The hand stitched elbow patches are teardrop shape and there is an umbrella symbol drawn on the sleeve plackets. Short lines are drawn along the curved hem representing blanket stitch to be used in the final version. Buttons are my handmade trapped resin embroidery buttons.

the Suicidal Girl’s dress calico ver.

This is from my 3rd collection “It rained into her room.” It looks like a blouse and a skirt but it is actually connected at the waist line. The front opening has button loops and navy covered buttons, the collar is pointy at the back with cotton ribbon trimmings to represent a handkerchief, the small breast pocket forms a teardrop shape with the hand drawn dots.

Christmas cards 2013

Merry Christmas everyone. These two are my newly designed Christmas cards this year, “These are all mine” and “Not that bothered” with pen and colour pencil illustrations on a navy background. They both have “but Merry Christmas.” printed inside. I’ve been making 2 designs every year for 3 years now so there is a set of 6 different illustrations now. You can see the past designs here. I may continue the same series next year or start a new series, I have a year to think!

Commissioned Controlling Girl’s shirt dress

This is a commissioned piece of the Controlling Girl’s shirt dress calico version from “minus the sun, night all day” collection. The marks and lines are drawn by hand and not actual embroidery, only the elbow patches are hand stitched. It is almost the same as the original but the resin buttons have embroidery inside instead of sequins. Also, it has a different mood because the calico I use is not always the same and I often combine different ones.

“minus the sun, night all day” character postcards

Here are the character postcards of my 2nd collection. The postcards of my 1st collection had a white background with pencil & watercolour illustrations with text describing each character. These have black backgrounds with handwritten design notes in white with digital illustrations. The back side has a girl silhouette stamp logo and address lines made of tiny crosses. Hope you like them. I’m keeping a set for myself and looking forward to growing my collection with each collection!
